GM Genuine Parts Vapor Canister Vent Solenoids are designed, engineered, and tested to rigorous standards, and are backed by General Motors. Fuel tank vapors are allowed to move from the fuel tank, due to pressure in the tank, through the vapor pipe, into the canister. Carbon in the canister stores and absorbs fuel vapors. Excess pressure is vented through the vent line and vent solenoid valve to the atmosphere.
